Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 27 July 1916.
Richard McNight died in the home of Nicholas Miller, on Luxemberg Ridge, last Friday, aged about 66 years, at the close of a brief illness.
Funeral services were held in St. Joseph's church on Saturday, conducted by Rev. J. F. Reilly, interment in the Catholic cemetery, in the family lot. Deceased was a son of Richard McNight and the family lived in Boardman township more than half a century ago, their home now being the property of Peter Miller. He was never married, but is survived by a sister residing in Nebraska, a cousin residing in Dubuque and perhaps other kindred of whom the writer is not informed.
He had enjoyed a home with Nicholas Miller, for whom he labored, for about two years, and was of an inoffensive and kindly disposition, and a familiar figure in Elkader and vicinity. His soul has departed from its house of clay and returned to God who gave it, and let us hope is at rest in a happier clime than this. - Democrat.
