Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 16 Mar. 1911.
Yesterday morning occurred the death of Sarah L. Gleason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Gleason, of this place.
Sarah Luella Gleason was born in Elkader January 14th, 1893, and so was 18 years, two months and one day old at the time of her death.
For over fourteen years, almost from infancy, she has been an invalid, a continual sufferer from spinal trouble, and since last August has gradually declined in health.
Afflicted in body to a degree that would seem almost unbearable, her Maker had compensated her with a beautiful soul. Through all her suffering she was most patient, winning a large sum of happiness from life through her own sunny nature. She was always unselfish, sympathetic and thoughtful for others, binding them to her with the strongest ties of love and affection. While her friends cannot wish her back to the sufferings of life they will greatly miss her and the sympathy of our people goes out to the sorrowing parents and family.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at 10:00 o'clock at St. Joseph's church, Rev. Father Reilly officiating, and she will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's cemetery.
