Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 9 Mar. 1911.
"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." Sent to this life but a few short months ago with a mission known best by "Him who doeth all things well," on Saturday morning the spirit of little Irving Albert, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ehrhardt, answered the summons of its Creator.
Irving Albert Ehrhardt was born July 13th, 1910. He was given the baptism of the German church, September 18th, 1910.
About two weeks ago he became ill with pneumonia and, in spite of all that loving care and medical skill could do, his spirit took its flight Saturday morning, March 4th.
During the few short months of his life he wound the tendrils of love and affection around the hearts of parents, grandmother and brothers so closely that they are sorely torn and wounded now that he is so suddenly taken from them. The sympathy of our people goes out to them in their sorrow.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the German Church, Rev. Franke conducting the services, and giving the consolation afforded by the word of God. The singing by the children of the Sunday school was particularly appropriate and touching. The little body was then laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.
