Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 27 Apr. 1911. Littleport column.

Grandma Helgerman, as she was familiarly known hereabouts, died at her home in Mederville on the 19th inst., due to illness incident to old age and from which she lacked sufficient strength to rally. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Schmidt and was born Oct. 15th, 1836, at Koutz Kreis Trier, Germany, and came to this country in October, 1853, making Madison, Wis., her home. On July 29th, 1858, she married Chas. Helgerman at Prairie du Chien, Wis., and to this union nine children were born, six of them being girls and three boys. Those who survive her beside the aged husband are: Mrs. J. J. Brich and Mrs. Chris. Hildebrandt, of Littleport; Mrs. Albert Meder, of Mederville, Ia.; Mrs. C. B. Wilcox, of Brazil, Ind.; and Edw. Helgerman, of Greeley, Ia. Those who preceded her to the great beyond and to whom she has gone were: Otto, William, Fannie and Lizzie. She was the grandmother of eleven children, and great-grandmother of six, honored, respected and beloved by them all. Her loss will not only be felt by her immediate relatives and friends but also by a large circle of acquaintances, who have known her for many years and who loved her for her many deeds of kindness and sympathy.
