Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 4 May 1911. Monona column.
Mary E. Schneider, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. B. Miller, Wednesday, April 12, 1911, was born May 28, 1845, at Fort Atkinson, Iowa, where her father, the late Herman Schneider, was a government blacksmith for the Indians. The same year the family moved to a farm near Beulah, which has been her home, thus she has been a resident of this locality for 65 years. She leaves to mourn her death her daughter, Mrs. F. B. Miller and son, Charles Welch, and a number of grandchildren, also two sisters and one brother, Mrs. C. E. Nichols, of Giard, Mrs. Lucy Mann, of McGregor, J. L. Schneider, of Beulah, her death being the first in this family of four children. Funeral services were held Saturday at the home of her daughter, conducted by Rev. Gauger, interment in Giard cemetery. The sympathy of the community is with the relatives.

The obit is confusing - it doesn't mention her marriage & names her as Mary Schneider, d/o Herman. The death certificate of her son Charles names his parents as Thomas & Mary (Snyder) Welch. If she had a gravestone, it is no longer there. Her husband Thomas died in Canada in 1907.
