Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 29 June 1911.

Mr. Waldron Easton passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. Wing, Thursday morning at three o'clock. Mrs. Easton died about three years ago and since that time Mr. Easton has made his home with the children and has been staying with his daughter here since Decoration Day. He would have been 88 years old had he lived until July 15th. He has been suffering with dropsy for the past year but had been able to be around, until two weeks ago, when he was taken to his bed, and since then he has steadily grown more feeble. The funeral was held Friday.

Waldron Easton was born in Gainsville, N.Y., July 15, 1823. The early life was spent on a farm in New York. Thanksgiving Day 1842, Mr. Easton was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Lamphere, of this city. Two years later the young couple went to Lake County, Illinois, to try the fortunes of the frontier. May 1864, the family moved to Iowa, settling near Strawberry Point, in Clayton County. Here the larger part of his life since '64 was spent.

The past few years were spent at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Susan Church, of Rockford, Ia.

April 13, of this year, Mr. Easton came to visit his children at this place. His purpose was to live with his son Lorston. But life is uncertain. Two weeks ago he came up to visit at the home of Mrs. Emma Wing, at which place his spirit was freed from the mortal body, and went to be with its maker, having lived in the mortal, 87 years, 11 months and 7 days.

There are seven of the eight children left to mourn the father's departure. Walter died at the age of 5 years. The wife passed to her reward 2 years, 7 months ago.

The following are the children: Mrs. Susan Church, of Rockford, Ia., Mrs. Mary Housman, of Clinton, Ia., Mrs. Emma Wing, of Strawberry Point, Ia., Mrs. Euphema Shepard, of Hurd_field, N.D., Lorston, of Crab Tree, Ore., and Mrs. Rebecca Peet, of Edgewood, Ia.

The children with there families make quite a group. There are twenty grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren left, for whom the father and ancestor will watch and wait. The services were held Friday morning, Rev. Piper officiating. The body rests in the beautiful cemetery in Strawberry Point.
