Clayton County Register, Thur., 30 Dec. 1926.

Fred Alderson, the youngest son of Thomas and Esther (Gibson) Alderson, was born in Goshen, Ohio, on August 6, 1858, and died at his home in Mederville on December 22, 1926.

When only a small child he assisted his father, who was handicapped by the loss of one limb, with the work in the mine. At the age of ten he came to Iowa with his parents and lived on a farm in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, in the midst of a prosperous community.

On December 6, 1882, he was united in marriage, by Rev. McIntyre to Carrie Perry. After his marriage he lived on a farm near his father, later moving to Durango, then back to Strawberry Point and a farm near there. In 1907 he moved to Mederville, where his home has been ever since.

He is the father of seven children, three of whom died in infancy. Those remaining to mourn his death are his wife, son Clarence; his daughters, Mrs. H. D. Kramer, Mrs. Albert Behrens, Mrs. A. R. Dittmer, and his grandchildren, Vernon, Newell, Malcolm and Milton Kramer, Gretchen and Helen Behrens.

He was a member of the M.W.A. camp of Strawberry Point.

He was of an uncomplaining disposition always keeping his troubles to himself. After a residence of 68 years, four months and six days in our midst he lays down the cares of life and departs, to the regret and the regard of all. His work was finished.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke at the home at Mederville, on Friday afternoon, Dec. 24. Interment in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
