Tove Torkelson was born August, 1837, in Opdal Numedal, Norway. He immigrated to America in 1857 and located at St. Olaf, Clayton county, Iowa.
Mr. Torkelson enlisted November 26, 1861, to serve in the Civil War and was with the Fifteenth Wisconsin Volunteers. He was wounded on August 21, 1862, in the battle of Stone River and was discharged on account of disability on April 3rd, 1863.
On December 13, 1866, he was united in marriage to Anne Helgesdatter. They resided near Elgin in Clayton county, until 1900, his occupation being farming. Then he retired, moving to Decorah, Winneshiek county, and resided there until September 4th, 1926, when they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to make their home with their son, T. T. (looks like Bakk_), at 4724 10th Ave. South, where he died on September 23rd, 1926, being buried at Lakewood cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
