WATKINS, MCNEIL

Jas. Watkins, of Monona, a brother-in-law of W.C. McNeil, was born 59 years ago in New York state. He came to this vicinity in 1849 where he has ever since made his home.

He enlisted in the 16th Regulars at the commencement of the war and served throughout the strife.

In 1872 he was married to M.J. McNeil whom with three children mourn the loss of a loved husband and father. His death resulted from pneumonia.

Burial services occurred Sunday in charge of the Masonic brethren of Monona and the funeral was the largest ever held in that portion of the county.
