Discouraged by ill health, since the war, Glen L. Palmer, a veteran of the World War, committed suicide a week ago Saturday at the home of his brother near Edgewood by shooting himself through the heart.
He enlisted in September, 1917, going overseas in August, 1918, and served in France until May 1919, as a member of the 88th division.
Glen L. Palmer was born on a farm north of Colesburg Nov. 5, 1895, where he grew to young manhood. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Palmer, preceded him in death. He is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Kate Parker of Waterloo, Mrs. Matie Hansel of New Hampton, Mrs. Clara Hansel of Garber, Mrs. Rose Bell and Mrs. Jennie Ross of Earlville, Mrs. Grace Hansel of Elkport, David Palmer of Garber, Bert Palmer of Elkader and Henry Palmer of Edgewood.
The funeral services were held Monday from the church at Bethel. Rev. A. N. Hollingshead conducted the services and interment was made at the Bethel cemetery.
