Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 14 Nov. 1918. Garnavillo column.

A beautiful life and one devoted to love of others and sacrificed in behalf of suffering humanity, was terminated at Davenport hospital at 1:25 o'clock Thursday afternoon, in the death of Mrs. Clarence Henry, a graduate nurse.

Roma Walleser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Walleser, was born on Dec. 13, 1881 in Garnavillo, Iowa. She was a graduate of our schools and for several years had charge of the grammar department and later taught in McGregor and Guttenberg schools. After this she took a course in nurses training at Iowa State University.

Her marriage to Clarence Henry of Attalissa took place at Iowa City on Nov. 30, 1911. They resided at Atalissa for some time but the past five years have made their home at Davenport.

When the emergency hospital installed for the caring of influenza patients issued an appeal for nurses, Mrs. Henry was among the first to respond. She remained at the hospital until last Friday evening at which time she gave up her duties by reason of illness. She shortly after contracted influenza and Wednesday was taken to Davenport hospital where her death occurred Thursday afternoon.

Funeral services were held on Saturday at sunset and her remains were laid to rest in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Those who survive her are her husband, mother, father, and sister Ina, many relatives and a host of friends.

----------

Note: Fairmount cemetery is in Davenport, Scott co., Iowa. She has a cenotaph there. Her gravestone in the Garnavillo City cemetery is shared with Joseph, Anna & Ina Walleser, naming her only as Roma (not Roma Henry).
