Elkader Register, Thur., 4 Mar. 1926. Strawberry Point column.
The death of Mrs. J. P. Schug occurred at her home last Friday evening. Mrs. Schug had been ailing for some time, with a goiter. Specialists were consulted and everything tried but to no avail. Mrs. Schug, nee Christina Fliehler, was born at St. Sebald, Dec. 25, 18_9 (looks like 1869), and has spent her life here. She was a devoted member of the Lutheran church and always took an active part in the Lutheran Ladies' Aid society as long as her health would permit. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and neighbor. Besides her husband and two sons, Ernest of Miles City, Mont., and Walter at home, she leaves two grandchildren and seven sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Paul Busse and Mrs. Manderville of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Andra__ of St. Sebald, Mrs. Fred Schuchman, Mrs. J. A. Huebsch and Mrs. Gottlieb Gresch of this place and Mrs. Frank Preuss of Volga, Chris Fliehler of this place and Gottlieb Fliehler of St. Sebald. Funeral services occurred Tuesday afternoon at the Lutheran church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Fritschel, and the remains laid to rest in the local cemetery.
