Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Feb. 1926. Guttenberg News columns.

Mrs. Gustave Pfiffner (nee Augusta Thammann), a life long highly respected resident of Guttenberg, died at her home here Thursday morning, February 18, 1926, at 9:25 o'clock, after an illness of four months duration and at the age of sixty years, three months and eleven days. Deceased was born in Guttenberg, Iowa, on November 7, 1865.. Forty years ago she was united in marriage here with Mr. Gustave Pfiffner, who preceded her in death in October, 1916. Mrs. Pfiffner was a faithful member of the Catholic church. To do acts of kindness for her family and friends was her greatest pleasure in life at all times, which won for her many friends during her useful and Christian life and by whom she will be remembered. During her illness all was done for her that could be done to ward off death, but all failed when she was called to the Great Beyond by the Angel of Death. She is survived by twelve children, Alfred Pfiffner of Guttenberg, Edmund Pfiffner of Lansing, William and Raymond Pfiffner and Mrs. Delphine Pendergast of Waterloo, Joseph Pfiffner of Cedar Rapids, Cyril and Leo Pfiffner of Los Angeles, Cal., Roman, Frances, Eugenia and Marie Pfiffner at home; twenty-six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Adam Duprez of Hillboro, Wis., Mrs. Ernest Schultze (Schultz ?) of Burlington, Iowa, Mrs. Max Mueller, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Anna Rump of Peoria, Ill.; and many other relatives and friends who will all sadly miss this good and true mother and friend. To know Mrs. Pfiffner was to love her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Joseph Dupont at St. Mary's Catholic church in this city on Monday morning at nine o'clock. Interment was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends from far and near were in attendance at the funeral, which showed that deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her.
