At the age of twenty-six, he left his native country and came to America and established his home in Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa, where he purchased a farm and continued his activities as a successful farmer until two years ago, at which time he rented his farm and moved to Farmersburg.

He was united in marriage with Gunnill Gullekson, December 12, 1872. To this union was born five children, Thov, Ole, Lena, Gilbert and Theodor. He is also survived by two brothers, Halvor of Wagner township and Kundt of Norway. Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive him.
