Henrietta, eldest daughter of the late Melinda and A. J. Walters, was born in Morgantown, Penn., Sept 4th, 1845, and passed away at her home in Garber, Oct. 3, 1932. When but two years of age she came with her parents to Iowa, settling on a farm in Clayton county, near Garber. She has lived in this vicinity for 85 years. In 1864 she was united in marriage to W. McSperrin, who passed away June 15, 1899. To this union nine children were born, namely, Mrs. Ella White, Mrs. Frona Penhollow of Osterdock, I. N. of Elkader, Mrs. Bertha Schultz of Garber, Mrs. Lucetta Tobie of Earlville, Mrs. Effie Tuthill of Lincoln, Nebr., and Grover C. of Oelwein. Chas. and Wm., Jr., preceded her in death. Besides the children she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lucetta Schweikert of Elkport and Mrs. Martha Bowman of Guttenberg; two brothers, T. J. Walters of Osterdock and J. G. of Garber. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. McSperrin was of a kind and neighborly disposition and will be missed by her family and friends. The Rev. R. Hanson conducted the funeral services. Burial took place in Mt. Harmony cemetery.
