Funeral services for Henry Berns who passed away at his home in Jefferson township on August 10, 1932, after an illness of a long duration, were conducted by Rev. H. Sharphoff at St. Joseph's Catholic church at Garnavillo on Saturday morning with interment in St. Joseph's cemetery at Garnavillo. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high regard by all who knew him.

Mr. Berns was 67 years old at the time of his death, and was a long time resident and prominent farmer of this community. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. Several children, a number of grandchildren, several brothers and sisters and a large number of other relatives and friends deeply mourn his death.
