Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 July 1932.
Monona: Frank M. Orr, president of the Monona State Bank, died early Monday morning at his home here after an illness of several months' duration. Although ill, he continued a part of his work at his home until a few weeks before his death occurred. He was one of the greatest bankers in Iowa, if not the greatest, his advice has always proven sound and good, and he will indeed be missed from the banking circle. In 1892 he came to Monona and helped to organize the Monona State Bank, and served as its cashier for 20 years, and in 1912 was elected president of the institution, which position he held until his death. During his residence in Monona he took an active part in the affairs of the town and has been one of the leading figures in the building up of the town, and Monona people owe him a deep debt of gratitude for the splendid service rendered during his forty years residence as a citizen of Monona.
April 9, 1932, he observed his 71st birthday and he is the first to die of a family of seven children. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carrie Musser, who was at his bedside and faithfully cared for him during his illness, and Mrs. Emily McCann of Chicago Heights, Ill.; and four sons, Honorable C. J. Orr and H. T. Orr of Monona, L. F. Orr of Independence and Dr. K. T. Orr of Minneapolis; also seven grandchildren, Merwin Musser, Tommy Orr, Billy Orr, Betty Jean Orr of Monona, Kathleen and Frank Orr of Minneapolis, and Robert Orr of Illinois.
