Clayton County Register, Thur., 21 July 1932.
On Thursday, July 14, 1932, occurred the death of George Blodgett, age 74 years, 10 months and 14 days. He was a resident of Clayton county for the past 60 years, having come to Turkey River, Iowa, at the age of 14.
He was born in Royaltown, Vermont, August 2, 1858, and on Jan. 7, 1883, he was united in marriage to Lucy De Sotel, who with five children and 8 grandchildren survive, three having died in infancy. Those who are left to mourn are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Blodgett, three daughters, Mrs. Lucille Petsche, Elkader, Mrs. Mabel Poar, Dubuque, Mrs. Charlotte Kentzleman of Waterloo; two sons, Joe of Garnavillo and Randall of Millville.
Of late years he had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Ben Petsche of this place but for the last year because of ill health he had chosen of his own will to reside at the county home from which place he passed away very peacefully. All that could be done was done for him but when that time comes we must go. He was comforted by the last rites of the Catholic church and the remains were taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben Petsche of this place.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at nine a.m. at St. Joseph's church with burial in the Catholic cemetery at this city.
