Funeral services were held last Thursday morning in the Sacred Heart church for Mrs. Elizabeth Thurn, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Evans, near Manchester, Tuesday afternoon. She had been taken there weeks previous so that her daughter might be able to give her care. Rev. F. Goetsinger officiated at the Solemn High Mass.
Mrs. Thurn was one of the pioneer settlers in this community and spent most of her life in and around Littleport. She was born in Germany.
Six sons and one daughter survive, as follows: Frank Jr., Isaac, ____, Wm., Ernest and John Thurn all of this community and Mrs. Mary Evans of near Manchester; two step-children, Jos. Thurn of Manchester and Mrs. Buchiltz of Lamont. Several grandchildren also survive.
Interment was made in Sacred Heart cemetery, the six sons acting a pall bearers. Her husband died several years ago.
