Mrs. Nancy Gween Rites Held Here

Mrs. Nancy Gween, 89, pioneer resident of this area, died Sunday in the Martinsen Nursing home at Marion, Iowa.

She lived in the McGregor and vicinity until seven years ago when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Valenta, at Cedar Rapids. She has been in the nursing home since July of this year.

Funeral services where held here in the Congregational church with the Rev. Tom Fukuyama officiating. Burial was at Moody cemetery.

As Nancy Flexman, oldest daughter of Arthur and Martha Flexman, she was born on a farm south west of Mc Gregor on Sept. 29th, 1866.

She was married to Samuel C. Gween on July 14th, 1887. He preceded her in death about 17 years ago. They were the parents of five children, Jennie, Nellie, Arthur, Laura, and Dorothy.

Survivng are two daughters, Mrs. Laura Hoffman of Chicago and Mrs. Dorothy Valenta of Cedar Rapids, ten grandchildren, and one siser, Mrs. Bessie Bovee of McGregor.

Beside her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Arthur and two daughters, Nellie, Mrs. Monroe Jacobs, and Jennie, Mrs. Bert Easter.
