Samuel Cline Gween was born at Carollton Ohio, May 14th, 1857, to Joseph and Hannah Gween and passed away January 19, 1938.
He came to Mc Gregor, Iowa, with his parents when 10 years of age and has resided in McGregor for 71 years.
When a young man he learned the iron molding trade from George Keen and Sons in North Mc Gregor, later operationg his own foundry in McGregor.

In 1887 he was married to Nancy Ellen Flexman. Five children were born to this union, two preceding him in death, Samuel Arthur, Nellie (Mrs. Jacobs). He is survived by his wife and three daughters; Jane Easter, Barnes City IA, Laura Hoffman, Chicago, IL, Dorothy Valenta, Cedar Rapids, IA. Ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter also survive.Relatives and friends from out of town attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bovee, Beloit, WI, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bovee, Beloit, WI, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sawvell, and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wilson, Prairie du Chien, Mr. And Mrs. Wm. Biggs, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Ziegler, Miss Mae Diamond of Monona, Anita Nieman, Waterloo, William Hoffman, Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gates, Edwin Seda, Frank Tvrdik, Cedar Rapids.
