Charles W. Perry died at his home near Highland on Monday evening, March 14. He had been in poor health for some months, but death came suddenly.
He was born in Utica, New York, on March 25, 1855, the son of John and Jane Perry. Brought to Iowa when very young, he was educated in District No. 4 of Boardman township. In 1890 he was married in Elkader to Emma Stahl, who died in October, 1929. Of their seven children, all except Cleva survive and live in Elkader. They are; Lester, Forest, Lorimer, Merle, Elsie (Mrs. R. J. Hyde) and Ruth (Mrs. Ole Benson). He is also survived by a brother, G. H. Perry of Cedar Rapids and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Alderson of Mederville and Mrs. A. C. Krieg of Minneapolis.
The funeral services were held in the Congregational church here yesterday afternoon, March 16, at two o'clock, with the Rev. C. T. Brewster officiating. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery.
