Toutsch, John 1861 - 1932

TOUTSCH, WILMES, ATWOOD, BARGHAHN, JUNGBLUT, HOFER

John Toutsch, who died at his home here last week Tuesday, March 1st, 1932, was buried in St. Joseph's cemetery Friday morning, March 4th, after services had been held in St. Joseph's church, the Rev. Father J. P. Taken officiating. Mr. Toutsch died following an illness which had confined him to his bed for twelve days, although he had been in failing health for a number of years.

Deceased was born in Helzingen, Luxembourg, Germany, March 26, 1861, the son of Nicholas and Catherine (Wilmes) Toutsch. He came to America with his mother in May 1880 and has been a resident of this county since that time.

February 14, 1888, he was married here in St. Joseph's church to Altha Atwood and five children were born to this union. The oldest son died in infancy, as did Kathryn and Josephine, twin daughters. Two daughters, Mrs. Viva Barghahn and Mrs. Sarah Jungblut, as well as one brother, Henry Toutsch and one sister, Mrs. Ed. Hofer, survive.

When Mr. Toutsch first came to this country he engaged in farming, later he was engaged in the lumber business and for a time he conducted a real estate business here. In more recent years he followed no active business but served as a member of the inheritance tax appraiser board.

He was a member of the Catholic church.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral Monday morning were: Harvey Toutsch of Fayette, Mrs. _. Hahn of Marquette and Mrs. H O. Peterson of McGregor.
