Elkader Register, Thur., 31 Jan. 1901. Strawberry Point column.
DIED- At her home in this place last Friday, Mrs. John Jessen, aged nearly _2 (Either 62 or 82.) years. The deceased was born in Germany. From that place she came to Indiana where she was married to her now bereaved husband, John Jessen. From that place she moved to Strawberry point, where she has since resided. Seven children blessed their home of which two preceded their mother to the great beyond. When Mrs. Jessen lived in Germany she was a member of the Lutheran church, but when she came here she did not join any church. She has been in poor health for about five years. She was ever a kind and loving wife and mother and always ready to lend a helping hand in time of sorrow and need. Faithful, consistent, true to her convictions, yet with all combining patience and good fellowship, endearing her to all her acquaintances. Her life was not silly or idly spent and the lesson left to the world by her life will buoy up many, encouraging them to better deeds. Besides her husband and children; she leaves two brothers, one sister and many friends who will miss her. The husband, children, brothers and sister lose the bright link from out of the family circle.
