Elkader Register, Thur., 18 Apr. 1901.
DIED- At the home of his son, Fred, Peter B. Beckett, after a lingering illness of several weeks, at the ripe old age of four score years. Deceased was an old pioneer citizen of this township, having come to this place with his small family when quite a young man and after conducting a meat market for a number of years, he moved on to the farm owned by his son John, where he continued to reside until three years ago when he made his home with his son Fred, his good wife having preceded him to the grave several years ago. Mr. Beckett was generous to his sons, friends and neighbors, for which he was widely known. He was a member of the M.E. church at this place. Kuemple Bros., undertakers, had charge of the funeral and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Clayton cemetery.
