Kason, Nelson J. died 1901 ??

Elkader Register, Thur., 13 June 1901. Clayton column.

While out attending to his nets one day last week M. O. Delphy found a pint flask floating on the water which contained the following note to the authorities written on the reverse side of an envelope with a pencil. "I, Nelson J. Kason, contemplate suicide by drowning in the Mississippi river at McGregor. Should this bottle be found will be evidence that I have committed the deed." Whether or not some misguided and despondent person really did commit the deed or if some smart Aleck wished to create some stir and bring his name before the public has not yet been ascertained.

(Note: At the time of posting it is not known whether a body was ever found. Posted here as a clue for researchers of the Kason family.)
