Oscar Theodore Olson, the son of Aslag Olson and his wife Gro (nee Nelson) was born Oct. 28, 1884, in Wagner Township and died at his home in St. Olaf Jan. 10, 1959, at the age of 74 years. Mr. Olson had been in failing health from a lingering illness. He was a life-long resident of Clayton County.
Mr. Olson was baptized and confirmed in the Norway Lutheran Church of St. Olaf and was a member of that congregation all his life.
He was married to Louena Reierson Nov. 17, 1906. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary in 1931 and their golden wedding anniversary in 1956.
Mr. Olson farmed in Clayton County for 47 years. Five years ago he retired and he and his wife moved into their present residence in St. Olaf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, and one child, Violet.
He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. Julia Loftsgard of Elgn, two daughters, Myrtle, Mrs. William Hermann of St. Olaf and Evelyn, Mrs. Rinaldo Ellestad of Spring Grove, Minn., three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral service for Oscar Olson was conducted Monday, Jan. 12, 1959, at 2 p.m. at the Norway Lutheran Church. Pastor Bruce Boyce was the officiating minister. Burial was in the Norway cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Curtis Olson, Clifford Walters, Norris Reierson, Ira Olson, Orvin Loftsgard and Calvin Ellestad.
