Elmer Peake was born in Fayette County Jan. 4, 1882, the son of John and Nancy Jane Self Peake. He died at his home in Oelwein May 1, 1959.
In his early life he farmed with his parents near Volga. In 1902 they purchased the home farm near Elkader, where he lived until he moved to Oelwein in 1943.
On March 28, 1907, he was married to Rosa Walter of Elkader. They celebrated their golden wedding at their home in Oelwein two years ago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charlie in 1923 and Chester in 1957.
He is survived by his wife Rosa, his sister, Mrs. Alfred Schneider of El Cerrito, Calif., nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
