Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Licht Scannell, 77, of Monona, were held Monday afternoon, Mar. 30, at 9:30 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. The Rev. Robert Levenhagen of Cascade, grandson of the deceased, officiated at the service. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Mrs. Scannell had been ill for four years and died at her home in Monona Wednesday, March 25.
As Sophia Licht, she was born May 11, 1880, in Allamakee County, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Egle Licht. She was educated in the rural schools. She was married to James Scannell Feb. 22, 1898. The couple lived on a farm east of Monona. Mr. Scannell died Mar. 10, 1910. Mrs. Scannell continued to live on the farm until seven years ago, when she moved to Monona.
Mrs. Scannell was an active member of St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Rosary Society.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Emma Licht; and four brothers, George, Henry, John and Joseph.
Surviving are: three sons, Julius and John, Chicago, and Emmett, Monona; four daughters, Mrs. Francis (Anna) Orr and Mrs. Walter (Agnes) Klatt, Chicago, Miss Mary Scannell and Mrs. Paul (Julia) Levenhagen, Monona; one brother, William Licht, Chicago; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
