Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 7, at the Peace United Church of Christ, Evangelical and Reformed, at 2 p.m. for William Meisner, with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.
Burial was at the East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were Leo Keleher, Stephen Donlon, Fred Kuehl, George Kuehl, Fred Schuety and William Katschkowsky.
William Meisner, the son of Louis and Amelia Wagner Meisner, was born Sept. 20, 1877, in Boardman Township, Clayton County, Iowa, and died in a nursing home at Strawberry Point Friday morning, Sept 4, at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 14 days.
Mr. Meisner spent his entire life in Boardman Township farming. He enjoyed good health until about a year ago, but was confined to his bed for only two weeks before his death.
He was married on Oct. 25, 1906, at Elkader, to Louise Hofer of Wagner Township. His wife preceded him in death Oct. 31, 1936.
Four sons and one daughter survive: Harold, Elgin; Arthur, Clermont; Francis, Postville; Realto, Elkader; and Bertha, Mrs. Ab. West, Elgin. Also three brothers: Louis, Elkader; Benjamin, Decorah; and Ernest, Marshalltown; and ten grandchildren.
