Clayton County Register, Thur., 4 June 1959.

Strawberry Point: Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, 1959, at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Strawberry Point, for John C. Meyer. The Rev. Robert Palen officiated and burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

The rosary was recited Wednesday evening at the Gill Chapel and Thursday at the Meyer residence.

John C. Meyer, son of Ernest and Agnes O'Brien Meyer, was born October 23, 1907, at Elkader, and died suddenly Tuesday, May 26, of a heart attack while at work in Manchester.

He attended grade and high school in Elkader and Loras College at Dubuque.

April 18, 1938, he was married to Dolores Quinn of Strawberry Point. They made their home in Strawberry Point, where Mr. Meyer was a contractor in building and decorating. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife and six children: Pfc. Patrick stationed in Japan, who was present at his father's funeral; James, Mary D., Joseph, Raymond and John; four brothers, Vincent J., Bancroft; Frank G., Washington, D.C.; Joseph W., Iowa City; Kenneth L., Chatfield, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Howard (Bernita) Wilson, Manchester; Sister Mary Ernestine, Dubuque; and Kathleen F. Meyer, Washington, D.C.
