Thursday morning last, at his home in Highland township, occurred the death of Patrick Minnihan, one of the most highly respected citizens of that township.
Some months ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis, but had apparently almost entirely recovered from its effects. On Wednesday he was taken suddenly sick, but grew better, an on Thursday morning felt so well that between five and six o’clock he got out of bed, dressed himself, and walking across the room sat down in a chair. He had scarcely seated himself when he began vomiting, and in a few moments breathed his last.
Mr. Minnihan was a native of Ireland, having been born in county Kerry, November 11, 1844, and consequently was nearly 45 years of age at the time of his death. He came to Clayton county about 25 years ago, and has since been a worthy and upright citizen of our county. He leaves a wife and six young children to mourn the death of a kind, loving husband and father, and the community mourns the death of a good man, whose every duty has been faithfully and fearlessly performed.
The funeral took place on Saturday from the Catholic church at this place, Rev. J.F. Reilly officiating.
