Miss Eliza Dackerel was born October 5th, 1861, in Kankakee, Ill., died October 12th, 1916, at the age of 55 years and 11 days.
At the age of thirteen months when her father died, she moved with her mother to Strawberry Point and has lived at or near this place ever since.
She was married to Victor Gifford on June 20th, 1883, whom she survived a little over thirteen years. To this union were born two sons, Fred Gifford, living at River Falls, Wis. and Owen Gifford, who died May 9th, 1910.
For the past three years Mrs. Gifford has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Balluff, where she was kindly cared for during continual suffering.
Besides her son she leaves three grandchildren and two sisters to mourn her departure.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C.C. Harris. Burial took place in our local cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gifford and children returned to their home at River Falls, Wis., Monday morning, having been called here by the illness and death of his mother, Mrs. Eliza Gifford.
W.H. Nace, Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Nace and Mrs. Chas. Gordon, of Arlington, attended Mrs. Eliza Gifford's funeral here Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Brink, of St. Paul, came last week, called here by the death of his aunt, Mrs. Eliza Gifford. The former returned home Monday morning, while the latter remained for a longer visit.
