Herman Friedrich Baumgartner, 70, died Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m., April 5, at the Lucy Smith nursing home at Edgewood. Born Jan. 15, 1883 in the St. Sebald vicinity, he was the son of Herman and Anna Niedermeyer Baumgartner. He lived his entire life near St. Sebald and in Strawberry Point until a little over a year ago when he entered the nursing home. He had a grade school education and was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
He was a farm laborer and never married. Death was attributed to a stroke and dropsy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sigmund (Minnie) Otdoerfer of Strawberry Point; seven brothers, August and Fred of Oelwein, George of Dundee, and Fred, Martin Louie, William and John of Strawberry Point; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, at 1:30 at the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point and at 2:00 at Emanuel Lutheran church, the Rev. S. J. Meyer in charge. Interment was in St. Sebald cemetery.
