Irvin Ihlenfeldt, son of the late Wm. C. Ihlenfeldt and his wife Ella, nee Heuer, was born on a farm near National on March 13, 1915. In early infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran church at National. As a young lad he moved with his parents to their present farm near Farmersburg. Hear he attended both public and religious school and was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Farmersburg in 1929 by the Rev. R. E. Ave Lallemant.
Irvin had the influenza this spring. Later severe pains developed in his legs and on March 26, he was taken to the hospital at Postville for treatment. It was thought that he was making satisfactory recovery and that he could be home in a few days. He died very suddenly about 11:35 a.m. Thursday, April 2.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died January 21 of this year, and by a nephew, Duane Radloff.
He is survived by his mother; two brothers, Lawrence and Willis of Waterloo; two sisters, Lora Ihlenfeldt at home, and Ina, Mrs. Lawrence Radloff of Luana; five nieces and nephews, Charles, Sharon Kay, and Ronald Lee Ihlenfeldt of Waterloo: Gary and Bonnie Radloff of Luana, besides other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 5, 1:30 p.m. at the home and 1:45 p.m. at the church in Farmersburg. Burial was at Clayton Center.
Pallbearers were: Kenneth Behrend, Carlton Fuelling, Elmer Fuelling, Bruce Little, Elmer Shady, J. J. Mathews, Wesley Lenth, Glen Radloff.
Flower girls were: Mrs. Bruce Little, Mrs. Elmer Shady, Mrs. Carlton Fuelling, Mrs. Karl Schuldt, Mrs. Robert Corlett, Mrs. George Lembke.
