Funeral services for Alvin D. Mueller were held at the Witt's Funeral Home at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Clayton Center, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. J. H. Zerhusen officiated. Burial was at the New Clayton Center cemetery with the V.F.W. and American Legion in charge of graveside services.
Alvin D. Mueller, son of William and Sophie Mueller was born March 30, 1895 on the Mueller farm in Read township. His entire life was spent in farming and since 1926 on the same place, he died Saturday, June 20, 1953, at his home. He had been ailing for the past five years.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church, Clayton Center.
He was married October 20, 1926 to Ella Huckstadt. Two children were born to this union, Glen at home and Mrs. Harold Thorne, Dubuque.
He was a veteran of World War I and had been gassed.
Those who survive besides his wife and children are two grandchildren, a brother, Harry, who lives on the old homestead.
Relatives from a distance who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schmidt, Lyle Schmidt, Rockford, Ill.; Dale Schmidt, Beaver Dam, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Arno Backhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Alto Backhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Backhaus, Manly; Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Mandelkow, Red Wing, Minn.
Pallbearers were: Harvey Witte, August Funk, Arnie Cords, Roland Walz, Gerald Doeppke and Emil Best.
