The announcement of the death of this distinguished citizen of Garnavillo will be received with regret and sorrow. His sickness was of short duration, less than a week, and brought on through a severe cold. He died on Wednesday morning, June 26th, 1878, at 20 minutes past three o’clock.
During his sickness he was attended by his partner Dr. Bowles, and by Dr. Andros and Dr. Clark, of McGregor. Dr. Chase of this place was called there on Tuesday evening and remained with him until after death had claimed him as its own.
Dr. Linton was 67 years of age. He has been a resident of this county 37 years, and was widely known throughout this section of the state, as a man of remarkable ability, of a genial disposition; a him hearted, hospitable old gentleman; a friend to all, and one admired by all who knew him. An obituary, written by one of his most intimate friends with full particulars of his last hours on earth, will appear in next week’s Register. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 3 O’clock.
