Died. At his residence in Volga township, Sunday morning June 2nd, 1878, Michael Eberhard, aged 51 years, one month.
The deceased had been sick for several weeks, suffering from a cancer of the stomach.
Mr. Eberhard was a brother of Supervisor, Andrew Eberhard, of this place and a man of considerable prominence in public matters.
He emigrated from Bavaria, Germany, to the United States in 1857; made a two months stay at Laporte, Ind., thence to Clayton county, taking up his residence in Volga township, where he has since resided, and by hard work and industrious habits amassed considerable property.
He served with distinction in the German army in 1848-9. During his residence in Volga township he has taken a lively interest in township matters, serving his township for several years as a member of the county board of supervisors. Has held the office of Assessor of that township for many years past and also a member of the school board. He was a man of excellent abilities, a good neighbor, a kind and indulgent parent. His loss is deeply deplored.
He leaves a wife and two children, a boy 15 years of age and a girl of 17 years of age. The sympathy of all will go out to the bereaved family and relatives, who now mourn the loss of one early loved for his many virtues and kindly deeds to neighbors and friends.
