JOHN KREISLE DIES SUNDAY
River Worker of the Early Days HereJohn Kreisle, for many years one of the most familiar figures in the life of the Mississippi River in this section, died early Sunday at his home here. Kreisle’s death was due to the infirmities of age.
Born May 13, 1858, Mr. Kreisle was a native of Guttenberg. He spent his boyhood here and worked on the river helping to bring many a huge raft of logs from the northern woods of the Zimmerman and Ives sawmill here.
He married Amelia Seippel here and is survived by five children. They are Mrs. Herman Schute of Guttenberg; Mrs. Sadie Latz of Los Angeles, California, Reuben of Guttenberg, Roy of Madison, Wisconsin, and Clarence of Potosi, Wisconsin.
Mr. Kreisle also is survived by 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from the Steger Funeral home to St. Mary’s church with Rev. J. A. Dupont in charge. Burial was in City cemetery.
