MONONA - Mark Hedemann, son of Darrell and Joyce Bernhard Hedemann, was born at Postville on March 22, 1950. He passed away December 31 in the Community Hospital at Postville after an illness of two days. He attained the age of 19 years, nine months and nine days.
Mark was educated in the Monona Community Schools and graduated from M-F-L High School in the class of 1969. At the time of his death he was a student at the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse, Wis. While in high school Mark was the school photographer and was president of the student council his senior year.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Giard, and was a member of the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. His interests included music, out-of-doors activities, hunting and fishing, and all sports, especially basketball.
Surviving are his parents; his brother, Hugh, a student at Webster City; his sisters, Janice and Susan, both at home; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Bernhard, Monona, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baxter, Garnavillo.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m., at the Giard United Methodist Church. Rev. Ralph Maddison officiated at the services. Music was provided by soloist and organist, Mrs. Neil Meyer. Pallbearers were Walter Moellering, Bruce Godfrey, Jim Hedemann, Gary Godfrey, Robert Moellering and Lyle Zody. Burial was in the Giard Cemetery.
