Knudt Herbrandsen was born June 14, 1857, in Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa, the son of Ole and Sigrid Herbrandsen, who were among the oldest settlers in Wagner township.
Knudt was one of twelve children, four boys and eight girls of whom two boys and three girls preceded him in death.
On July 5th, 1916, deceased was united in marriage with Brjnild Meland of Thore, Iowa, after which they moved to St. Paul which has since been their home.
Knudt had not been well for some time. Last year he was operated on for tumor at the Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, after which he rallied and hoped for recovery. Soon new trouble, in the form of cancer developed and he submitted to another operation. He died on March 2nd, and the remains were brought to the old home in Wagner township, where services were held at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, followed by services at Norway church at two o'clock with Rev. N. Arvensen officiating. Those who mourn his departure are: his wife, one brother, five sisters and many other relatives and friends.
