Clayton County Register, Thur., 14 Nov. 1935.
Monona: Funeral services were held from the Wellman home at Giard for Mrs. Elsie Roloff Wellman, the only daughter of Mrs. Charles Roloff, Monday morning at ten o'clock. She died of diphtheria. Rev. H. W. Siefkes conducted the services and burial was made in the Monona Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Wellman is survived by the widower, F. Glenn Wellman; one daughter, Marie Wellman, and two sons, Leonard and Jason Wellman; her mother, Mrs. Charles Roloff; one brother, Henry Roloff of Bellevue, Iowa; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Maker of Dubuque; besides hundreds of friends.
For a number of years Mrs. Wellman assisted in the care of the sick and all praise her for her untiring effort in their behalf. She was a good Christian, a kind mother, faithful wife and dutiful daughter. For her friends she was a willing worker, lending a helpful hand to those in need. In all the homes where she nursed, all loved her for her gentle, kindly, helpful ways. The community has indeed lost a good member.
