Services were held Wednesday, January 3, 1979 for Katherine "Kitty" Russell, who passed away at a nursing home on Dec. 29, 1978 having reached the age of 86 years, 1 month, 12 days. Msgr. Donald Heineman officiated the service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona. Pallbearers were Kermit Klinge, Burdette Wold, Jack Kittmer, and Roger Anderson.

Katherine "Kitty" Russell was born Nov. 17, 1892, the daughter of Daniel and Margaret O'Leary Doody in Giard Township. She attended school in the area. On Feb. 9, 1915 she was united in marriage to Eugene Russell at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, by Father Hogan. To this union three children, were born: Eugene, a daughter Virginia, who died in infancy, and a daughter Virginia. They made their home in Monona for many years. After the death of her husband, she lived for a time in St. Paul, Minnesota and later moved to Vallejo, California.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Eugene who died November 14, 1949, an infant daughter Virginia, four sisters, and six brothers.

Surviving her are her son Eugene of Elkader, Iowa, her daughter Virginia of Vallejo, California, one brother, Patrick Doody of St. Paul, Minnesota.
