Clayton County Register, Thur., 19 Sept. 1935.
Wm. Seeland was born January 29, 1867, at Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. At about seven years of age he came to America, settling in Clayton county in the vicinity of Farmersburg.
For a while Mr. Seeland stayed at his parental home, working the home place. In 1902 he went on a farm of his own near Farmersburg, which place he worked until the year 1920, when he sold the farm and came to Farmersburg to live.
On March 10, 1935, Mr. Seeland became ill, and his brothers had him moved to the Postville hospital, where he was cared for until July 16, 1935. He was then removed to the hospital at Independence. However, there his health was not improved and very soon the information came that one should come and visit him as he was in declining health. On Tuesday morning, at about five o'clock, the Lord saw fit to call him home, immediate death being caused by a paralytic stroke and pneumonia.
He had reached the age of 68 years, seven months and 12 days. Mr. Seeland was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church, Farmersburg, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn, his two brothers, John Seeland, Monona, and Fred Seeland, Luana, as well as other relatives and friends.
