Clayton County Register, Thur., 19 Sept. 1935. Monona column.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. L. Zeller for Charles Henkes, who died at the home of his brother at Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 78 years. He was born in Giard township and is the last of the five sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Henkes. He was never married. Surviving him are fourteen nieces and nephews. Burial was made at the Roberts Creek church cemetery.
