Clayton County Register, Thur., 16 May 1935. Strawberry Point column.

The death of Mrs. Howard C. Bowman of Strawberry Point occurred Thursday afternoon at Oelwein. About two weeks ago Mrs. Bowman underwent an operation in the Mercy hospital. Mr. Bowman went over after her. When Mrs. Bowman entered the car to come home, they had gone only a short distance when she complained of not feeling well, and getting out, fell. Medical aid was summoned and it was found she had passed away, probably from a stroke.

Mrs. Bowman, nee Ida, daughter of Frederick and Mary Rebaschus, was born Oct. 7, 1886, at St. Sebald and later moved to Strawberry Point, where she has since resided. On Aug. 17, 1904, she was united in marriage to Howard C. Bowman. To this union ten children were born, two, Howard and Carl, preceding their mother in death. Mrs. Bowman was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She was an earnest and active worker in the W.R.C. and Auxiliary. A wife and mother are gone -- her work here done, but let them remember her teaching. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."

Surviving are the husband, five sons and three daughters: Donald Bowman, Willmer Bowman, Milton Bowman, George Bowman, Burnell Bowman, Bernita Bowman, Mrs. Irma MacTaggart, all of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Howard (Clara) Sampson of Davenport; also six grandchildren, besides two sisters and five brothers: Mrs. Francis (Otillia) Allen of Davenport, Mrs. Chris (Augusta) Fliehler, Fred Rebaschus, Edward F. Donath and Emil Rebaschus, all of Strawberry Point; Carl Rebaschus of Davenport, and John Donath of St. Paul, Minn.

Funeral services occurred Sunday afternoon at the Emanuel's Lutheran church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Max O. Jahr. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
