Funeral services of Adam Neuenkirch, who died Wednesday, were held at Emanuel's Lutheran church Friday, conducted by the Rev. Max O. Jahr. Burial was in St. Sebald cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Birrer, Wm. Opperman, Wm. Imlau, John Brockens, F. Hoyer and Lee Scheffler.
Son of George and Mary Neuenkirch, he was born at Martinsdale, N.Y., Feb. 26, 1851. When a boy he came with his parents to Iowa and settled on a farm at St. Sebald. On May 17, 1876, he was married to Mrs. Sophia Hemerding Sauerbry. Nineteen years ago they moved to town from their farm. In 1926, their golden wedding anniversary was celebrated. Mr. Neuenkirch was a member of the Emanuel's Lutheran church. Surviving are his widow, three sons and one daughter; Frank Neuenkirch of Oelwein, Clarence Neuenkirch of Chicago, Bennie Neuenkirch and Mrs. Albert (Minnie) Duncan of Strawberry Point; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also two step-sons, William H. Sauerbry of Strawberry Point and Anton Sauerbry of Waverly. Three daughters, Lena, Anna and Mrs. Lydia Gipper, preceded their father in death.
