Funeral services for I. Archie Bowers, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Hebron, Sunday, following a stroke, were held at the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. James P. Gable of the Methodist church. The pallbearers were: Fred E. Tracy, E. H. Sargent, John R. Tracy, Earl Nichols, A. J. Stamp and E. N. Roberts. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Archie Bowers was born at Cartersville, Ohio, in 1849. He was the son of Solomon and Susan Bowers. The family came here by ox team shortly before the outbreak of the Civil War. On March 15, 1875, he was married to Ellen Bowers, who preceded him in death in September, 1932. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Congregational church and Odd Fellows lodge. In his passing, another pioneer has passed beyond. Surviving are the three sons and one daughter: Robert H. Bowers, Manchester; G. William Bowers, A. Winnie Bowers, and Mrs. George (Martha) Hebron, all of Strawberry Point; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also one brother, Ike N. Bowers, of Marion.
