M. Schroeder Laid to Rest

Funeral services were held Friday, February 29, 1980, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, for Milton Schroeder. Pastor Karl E. Hansen officiated. Pallbearers were Gary Lenth, Elmer Schutte, Don Bossard, Earl Berns, Kenny Frye, and Jim Montgomery. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, was in charge of arrangements.

Milton Carl Schroeder, the son of Edward and Nora Wilke Schroeder, was born January 25, 1921 in Allamakee County, Iowa. He was baptized April 28, 1921 by Rev. Schmidt and confirmed April 5, 1936 at Postville by Rev. Garten; his scripture verse was I Timothy 1 v 15.

He was united in marriage to Vila Krueger on June 5, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, by Rev. Landgrebe. Three children blessed this union: Sandra, Shari, and Stanton. He was employed by Drahn's Implement for about eight years, farmed in the St. Olaf, Luana, and Monona areas, and for the past ten years had been employed by the St. Olaf Co-op. He died after a sudden illness on Monday, February 25, 1980, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader, having reached the age of 59 years and one month.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Delores Mae. Surviving him are his wife, Vila; his two daughters, Mrs. Valdean (Sandra) Johnson of Monona, Mrs. Donald (Shari) Kuehl of Garber; his son Stanton of Tustin, California; six grandchildren: Tamara, Jeremy Johnson, Chad, Danny Kuehl, Carrie Jo and Tina Sue Schroeder; his sister, Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Meyer of Postville, and a brother, Merlin, of San Bruno, California; other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by those who loved and knew him.
