John Rothlisberger was the son of John Rothlisberger and his wife, Elizabeth, nee Sommer, and was born January 24th, 1859 at Berne, Signau, Switzerland, and died at the home of his brother, Rudy, on Friday evening, March 15th. The deceased reached the age of 76 years, one month and 21 days.
He came to America in the year 1889 and came direct to Illyria township, Fayette county, where he worked for his aunt for a period of two years. For thirty-eight years he and his brother, Rudy, farmed together. The deceased was never married.
The deceased returned to Switzerland three times for a visit with his relatives and friends. He enjoyed good health through-out his life with the exception of being seriously ill about 10 years ago and six weeks preceding his death.
John was a member of a family of seven. Two sisters, Louise Aschleman and Rose Medberry preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his departure, Rudy of Elkader, Lena Gehring of Elgin, Gottlieb of Sandwich Island and Fred of Switzerland, and other relatives and friends.
Services were held Tuesday from the funeral parlor of the Home Service Co., at two o'clock. Interment was in Illyria cemetery, The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating.
